Why can NAC help with withdrawals?
N-acetylcysteine (NAC) is a form of cysteine that is a "semi-essential" amino acid.
Semi-essential, which indicates that the body can make it from various other amino acids, especially methionine and serine. It will only be critical if the methionine and serine intake is low.
Cysteine is found in most protein-rich foods like chicken, turkey, yogurt, cheese, eggs and sunflower seeds.
NAC is particularly valued for its role in the production of antioxidants.
Along with two other amino acids, glutamine and glycine, NAC is needed to produce and replace glutathione.
